I have been photographing local music for a while now, using primarily my D300 and a 35mm F/1.8 lens (which on a D300 is around 50mm) but it has been really struggling in low light, it started proving difficult to get good photos without compromising on noise, so I started looking at my options to upgrade.
Download Festival 2017 is just around the corner, it has come round so fast this year, it only seems like yesterday that I was booking the tickets getting excited for some of the bands that had been announced at the time, now that we only have 8 days to go I thought it would be awesome to share what my perfect weekend would look like and which bands I am excited to see.
Wasted Fate took to the stage on Saturday supporting A Foreigners Journey at The Tivoli venue, It was an amazing night they even pulled out a cover of Stone Broken’s Wait For You and everyone knew the words, it was amazing. I was there to take some pictures, enjoy.
I have spent seven whole days with Mr Dandy’s Hair Candy, during this time I have learnt a lot about it, how well we get on together and if we will be suited to one another long term, I was looking for a good hair product that was vegan-friendly but not a pomade and not really a wax or a paste, these products are great for certain hair styles but not for me, I needed something a bit more flexible, hopefully this review will help you.
Back to The Tivoli last night, this time to see an upcoming band that I hadn’t seen before, Stone Broken, they are on the Download Festival bill and with them playing a show so close to home I wanted to see them in a more intimate venue.
I got there early, so much so I got to see the two support acts, arriving early certainly paid off, getting a spot right on the barrier. This band didn’t disappoint, the atmosphere in the Tivoli was electric playing songs from ‘All In Time’ their current album but also treating us to a number of new tracks off their forthcoming album, the crowd singing along to almost every single song it was a fantastic evening.
If you haven’t seen Stone Broken yet and they are playing somewhere close to home, get down and see them, you won’t be disappointed. I didn’t take my camera but got some pictures on my phone which are below.
Yesterday evening marked the very first time I would ever see Iron Maiden, I had been told that the show was absolutely fantastic, friends had been before, some of them many times, I had heard story’s of how I was going to be blown away but I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I had seen Shinedown previously at an appearance at Download Festival but not Iron Maiden, I walked away from the show absolutely buzzing, it was everything everyone had said it would be, the atmosphere, the set itself everything was just amazing, I am not sure that I will ever get to see them again but if you do have a chance to it is well worth it.
I took some pictures too….
Monkey Wrench, the Foo Fighters cover band from the small Shropshire town of Oswestry took to the stage at the Saith Seren last night for their debut gig, the set opened with [ ] and blew the crowd away after that the hits just kept coming one after another. vocals, guitar, bass and drums were all exceptional the time and effort these lads had put into this bad hadn’t gone un-noticed, Saith Seren was packed full of people wanting more and more from this great new band, if you were not there last night, make sure you are there for the next gig, you don’t want to miss this.
Spud on vocals and lead guitar was just amazing, Gareth on rhythm guitar was exceptional you could tell from the presence he had on the stage that this was everything they had worked for, Glenn on bass was alive on the stage feeling every single song and Barry on drums was on point, the drums were tight and his solo midway through the set into my hero was a fantastic twist that nobody had seen coming.

Here are the photos…
I went out to support Oswestry and the very first Half Marathon today, I took my camera and wanted to use this post to share the pictures that I captured, I was stationed between mile marker 6 & 7 as shown on the map below.
If you would like a copy of a photo that has you in get in touch & I will be happy to send it over.
I have seen these boxes in some of the vegan magazines I have been reading, they looked great and I was lucky enough to be gifted one for my birthday from a family member, it came jam packed full of amazing goodies, some of which I had never even heard of before, I wanted to share my experience of this snack box with you all.
If you are a regular visitor you will know that for my birthday I had tickets to the Warner Bros Studio – Harry Potter Tour and today was the day we got to visit, I am not going to write a massive review but simply say if you like Harry Potter this is definitely worth a visit and I will let the pictures that I took throughout the day tell the rest of the story.
